Upernavik Accommodations is a family-owned business dedicated to providing comfortable and hassle-free stays in Upernavik. With cleanliness as our top priority, we ensure our guests enjoy a welcoming, 'home-like' experience.
Upernavik Accommodations has a rich history rooted in local business. It was initially part of LASØ A/S, a construction company, founded by Ole Sørensen in 1973 in Uummannaq. In 1990, LASØ expanded to Upernavik, where Ole purchased multiple houses to accommodate workers.
Recognizing the potential in renting these spaces, he began offering rooms and houses to local travelers and the occasional tourists. This initiative laid the foundation for what would later become Upernavik Accommodations.
In 2020, LASØ was divided into two separate entities. Ole Louis Sørensen retained 10 houses, officially establishing Upernavik Accommodations. Alongside his wife, Duda Sørensen, Ole brought 15 years of expertise in managing accommodations to the business.
Today, Upernavik Accommodations is the largest provider of rooms and houses in Upernavik. They collaborate with Air Greenland to host stranded passengers when flights are canceled or delayed.
While Upernavik is not yet fully equipped for tourism, Upernavik Accommodations is working to make the region more accessible for visitors. We connect guests with local businesses offering unique experiences, such as boat sightseeing, fishing trips, and guided hikes in the area.
With cleanliness and guest satisfaction at its core, Upernavik Accommodations strives to provide a welcoming and comfortable stay. Their vision includes fostering sustainable tourism and showcasing the natural beauty of Upernavik to the world.
